The director of RIKEN Europe – Dr. Toshiyasu Ichioka, visited the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences at the invitation of its Chairman – Academician Julian Revalski. RIKEN is Japan’s largest research institution, known for high-quality research in a diverse range of scientific disciplines.

As part of his visit, RIKEN’s director for Europe visited the Institute of Information and Communication Technologies and met with scientists from the Institute who presented the scientific achievements and equipment in the field of HPC, as well as the most significant international and national projects carried out by IICT-BAS. The guest showed special interest in the new Petascale supercomputer which is expected to become operational later this year.
